Where it all began
This journey started just under 4 years ago for me. I was a Blue Collar worker making over 100k a year, getting ready to buy a house. When my whole world got turned upside down. I lost my dad, my best friend, my role model all in one sudden swoop. Which changed everything, I was no longer going to buy a house because my wife and I decided to care for my mom until she was able to get back to being motivated to go on. It was rough, is an understatement, not being able to grieve the lost because my wife and Iβs focus day in and day out was making sure others were okay.
It took a toll, so I decided to leave the industry I've worked in for so many years and opened an aftermarket shop for cars, trucks, and SUVs. I took a lot of my leadership capabilities from running crews in refineries mixed with my ability to build relationships with clients and customers and built a solid foundation customer base. I knew what it was going to take to build it into a well oiled operation so without taking a salary or paycheck I continued to put all the money coming in back into the business and we sustained our living situation through the down payment for the house we pulled out of.
Long story short, my customer base was growing. I have a guy from a neighboring business come in one day and talk to me about crypto and investing of course at the time it's went in one ear and out the other I was a one man operation from talking to customers, ordering parts, doing the installs, powder coating, marketing and more all while trying to keep my mom's head above water.
With everything I was doing people starting to notice the work load the 10 to 12 hour days the late nights so my mom needed something to take her mind of the pain so she came in to do the accounting and take care of the books pull some of the weight off my shoulders. Well in a matter of 6 months my customer base continued to grow but the business bank accounts continued to be negative and shop bills began to stack by the time I found out it was to late and I ultimately had to close the doors to my dream.
In that moment I realized something needed to change so I told my wife we are moving away from here starting fresh with our only worry being our 2 kids and eachother I was done fixing other peoples problems and being use for my ability to accomplish things I put my mind to only to benefit themselves and careless of the repercussions.
So we did, we moved thousands of miles away, cut out all the toxic relationships, and started fresh. One day while I was thinking about what my next move was how was I going to make this right and get us back to were we once were, I remembered that conversation I had with another business owner about crypto and the rest will be history.
1. Why this, why now
I have a voice, I have a story and when I joined crypto and NFTs I realized that there's not enough truth in this decentralization space and I will continue to not only build a brand behind my name but I will do everything in my power to help projects and people have a better experience in web3. This is my growth, my marathon, join me in this quest to blaze a new trail.
2. What kind of community am I looking to build here?
One that's not willing to fall in line and call it like it is this is a wild space. I watch people weekly change there narrative to grab the attention of the less fortunate, less educated in web3 and line there pockets with no regard for others. My Substack will be used to educate with information and experiences I've gathered from my time in this space.
